You have reached the OpenEMed.net web server. The software for the project is available at http://OpenEMed.org.
The OpenEMed software can be tested on this site.
The specifications used are the Person Identification Service (PIDS) and the Clinical Observation Access Service (COAS). The first is used to identify individuals that have a medical record, while the latter contains the clinical content associated with the patient.
The two applications above demonstrate the flexibility of the specifications. The Medical Surveillance application does not contain any patient identifiers but is simply used to track clinical information associated with anonymous individuals who arrive in an Urgent Care setting. It can connect to a PIDS server to store an encrypted id which could be used for followup by an epidemiologist. The PIDS server is run behind a firewall from the COAS server used to store the relevant medical data.
The Immunization application allows one to locate the immunization information associated with a particular individual across enterprises. The PIDS Correlation Manager is used to link the identities of an individual in different systems so that otherwise unrelated immunization events can be correlated in the COAS server. In these examples, the presentation layer is web-based for ease of distribution, but this not a requirement for use of this technology. Any system that is conformant to the specifications should be able to use these web applications immediately, as they are built as web archive (.war) files for immediate deployment in a web server with JSP support (such as resin or tomcat). All of the server-side code is in Java.
